[opensuse] konsole - restore normal shell after "Set as Default" in Super User Mode
Listmates, After another go with this small problem, I thought I would post it as a reference for anyone else bitten by this surprise. If you have (accidentally) selected "Set as Default" while using konsole "Super User Mode" in kde 3.x, you will thereafter always get the "Super User" konsole even when you try and start a normal konsole window. The annoying part is that you will be prompted for the root password every time you try to open any konsole window. There are two approaches to fix the problem: (1) (courtesy of a prior post by David Bolt) - Simply rename your konsolerc file and force kde to recreate the file which will default to a normal user with the mv command: mv ~/.kde/share/config/konsolerc ~/.kde/share/config/konsolerc.sav (2) A second direct method is to edit konsolerc and set the DefaultSession back to shell.desktop. In your favorite editor, find the following line: DefaultSession=su.desktop change it to: DefaultSession=shell.desktop ** Another, not tested, possibility would be to open konsole, then go to settings -> configure konsole -> Session tab and then select "shell" and again "Save as Default" to restore the DefaultSession to a normal shell. -- David C.
