I had a catastrophic MB failure and switched from Abit KT7A to Elitegroup K7S5A. Am using suse 8.0. On boot my USB keyboard would let me get into the bios but after boot it wasnt there. eventually i learned that the kybdev module wasnt being loaded. After many hours reading and trying many things an Insmod keybdev go it working, mostly. My question is can anyone point me to some documentation that will tell me how the usb keyboard is handled by suse8.0? I would like to know where the switches formerly in rc.config have been put. So far, either I'm very dense or just stupid cause I cannot find any one place that will tell me how suse handles the Ortek or any USB keyboard. I have RTFM, I, HOWTO, and a dozen or more USB & Hotplug files/scripts. Surely there is one relatviely comprehensive paper to tie all those things together. Isn't there? Thanks for any help. Richard

Yes, I enabled the bios. I found much of the info in files in /etc/sysconfig but never did find the equivalent of USB_DRIVERS= as found in old rc.config. Even more importantly, where can one find a doc that gives an overview of the suse USB process? I can see the Hotplug is now an important part of the process but how does it fit in? It may appear that such questions are asked by the lazy but I assure you I have spent many hours pouring over the various files and The info is so discombobulated that after awhile, the brain gets numb. Something like a map or flow chart of the usb process would give many of us some directions and lessen seemingly petty & dumb questions. I would be happy to draw the map but right now I'm to damned dumb to figure out where the chicken and the egg are in relation to one another. Thanks for helping me. Richard

Do you have the USB keyboard enabled in your BIOS? Just thought it worth checking. It is usually disabled by default on a default bios config. -- Joe & Sesil Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM.
