Hi! Is it possible to read DVD with Linux? If yes, can someone tell me a little bit about that. I heard that Mplayer was supposed to do it but when I start it, all freeze after the message "DVD succesfully loaded". No movie is playing. I looked on the web site but no more infos on that. Thanks _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos est le moyen le plus simple de partager, modifier et imprimer vos photos préférées. http://photos.msn.fr/Support/WorldWide.aspx

I'm very curious whether SuSE 8.0 (coming out April 22) will include the "final" KDE 3.0. There's a review of an 8.0 beta at the Linux Portal, and it says that the default is KDE3 instead of the latest KDE2. I don't know how I feel about that. Judging from my experience with other software (e.g., Linux kernel 2.4.0), I'd probably stick with KDE 2. I'm also curious as to whether SuSE 8.0 uses RPM v4. -- Karol Pietrzak PGP KeyID: 3A1446A0
Hi Karol,
"Karol Pietrzak"
I'm very curious whether SuSE 8.0 (coming out April 22) will include the "final" KDE 3.0.
Yes, SuSE 8.0 does include the final KDE 3.0.
I'm also curious as to whether SuSE 8.0 uses RPM v4.
Nope, we're still at RPM v3. RPM v4 is still too buggy, specially on platforms other then ia32. And why should we change? The version we use can read v4 packages and what more do you want? Philipp

I got the rpms from here http://ibiblio.org/pub/packages/desktops/kde//stable/3.0/SuSE/i386/

Offical SuSE RPM v3 pkgs of KDE3 on ftp.suse.com ;)
I *knew* something like that would come as soon as I reread my mail ;-) Philipp

Fantastic. To tell you the truth, I would _not_ have purchased SuSE 8.0 if SuSE made a KDE out of CVS the default. Stuff like that reminds me of RedHat...

I agree completely: there's _nothing_ more I want. RPM v3 is still the LSB recommendation, and I've heard too many RPM v4 horror stories to see any reason to switch. -- Karol Pietrzak PGP KeyID: 3A1446A0

Try Xine. Not from the SuSE CDs, but from: http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/~jcm/skyblade/ Cheers ...
