[opensuse] trying to run installer.exe in wine
Hi, obviously something does not work when I try to run an installer in whine (it works in virtual box/win 10, so there is nothing wrong in the exe itself). When I run wine dppw4.11.0-installer.exe the file gets copied to /home/daniel/.cache/kioexec/krun/nnnnn_0/ and nothing else happened. Below the console output - does this simply mean "wouldn't work with wine" or does it mean I can do something to make it work? 0009:fixme:ntdll:EtwEventRegister ({5eec90ab-c022-44b2-a5dd-fd716a222a15}, 0x401123, 0x46f540, 0x46f558) stub. 0009:fixme:ntdll:EtwEventSetInformation (deadbeef, 2, 0x466398, 43) stub 0009:fixme:nls:GetThreadPreferredUILanguages 00000038, 0x32f984, 0x32f994 0x32f988 0009:fixme:nls:get_dummy_preferred_ui_language (0x38 0x32f984 0x32f994 0x32f988) returning a dummy value (current locale) 0009:fixme:shell:InitNetworkAddressControl stub 002a:fixme:ver:GetCurrentPackageId (0x11effefc (nil)): stub 0009:fixme:exec:SHELL_execute flags ignored: 0x00000100 002c:fixme:ntdll:EtwEventRegister ({5eec90ab-c022-44b2-a5dd-fd716a222a15}, 0x401123, 0x452550, 0x452568) stub. 002c:fixme:ntdll:EtwEventSetInformation (deadbeef, 2, 0x44ba48, 43) stub 002c:fixme:nls:GetThreadPreferredUILanguages 00000038, 0x32fa20, 0x32fa30 0x32fa24 002c:fixme:nls:get_dummy_preferred_ui_language (0x38 0x32fa20 0x32fa30 0x32fa24) returning a dummy value (current locale) 002e:fixme:ntdll:EtwEventRegister ({5eec90ab-c022-44b2-a5dd-fd716a222a15}, 0x401123, 0x5036f0, 0x503708) stub. 002e:fixme:ntdll:EtwEventSetInformation (deadbeef, 2, 0x4f0cf8, 43) stub 002e:fixme:nls:GetThreadPreferredUILanguages 00000038, 0x32fa4c, 0x32fa5c 0x32fa50 002e:fixme:nls:get_dummy_preferred_ui_language (0x38 0x32fa4c 0x32fa5c 0x32fa50) returning a dummy value (current locale) 002e:fixme:shell:InitNetworkAddressControl stub 002e:fixme:ntdll:EtwEventRegister ({5eec90ab-c022-44b2-a5dd-fd716a222a15}, 0x10001123, 0x100324b0, 0x100324c8) stub. 002e:fixme:ntdll:EtwEventSetInformation (deadbeef, 2, 0x1002e350, 43) stub 002f:fixme:ver:GetCurrentPackageId (0xa6fefc (nil)): stub 002e:fixme:ntdll:NtQuerySystemInformation info_class SYSTEM_PERFORMANCE_INFORMATION 002e:fixme:ntdll:EtwEventRegister ({5eec90ab-c022-44b2-a5dd-fd716a222a15}, 0xa81123, 0xc22f90, 0xc22fa8) stub. 002e:fixme:ntdll:EtwEventSetInformation (deadbeef, 2, 0xc0ee48, 43) stub 002e:fixme:ntdll:EtwEventUnregister (deadbeef) stub. 002e:fixme:ntdll:EtwEventUnregister (0) stub. 002e:fixme:ver:GetCurrentPackageId (0x32fe94 (nil)): stub 002e:fixme:ntdll:EtwEventUnregister (deadbeef) stub. 002e:fixme:ntdll:EtwEventUnregister (0) stub. 002c:fixme:ver:GetCurrentPackageId (0x32fe94 (nil)): stub -- Daniel Bauer photographer Basel Málaga https://www.patreon.com/danielbauer https://www.daniel-bauer.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Not every application works under wine. It's good to check appdb.winehq.org before even trying. In case of "Digital Photo Professional" versions 4 and later doesn't work at all: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=1988

Yes, I've seen that. I just had a little bit of hope now that there is wine 5 of which is said that it brings so much more, and it's so very probable that I did something wrong :-) Thanks anyway for confirming that it simply doesn't work. Would have been nice, but one cannot have everything in life, just almost... -- Daniel Bauer photographer Basel Málaga https://www.patreon.com/danielbauer https://www.daniel-bauer.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
