[opensuse] repository query
I was looking for a favourite package "grip" but it did not appear through yast software management module. I've got many of the community repositories installed including the ones for KDE and GNOME as well as the default opensuse ones. I did a google search and found the package located in an opensuse multimedia repository. This multimedia repository is not included in the repository list and I was wondering why. Can anyone shed some light? The address is: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/multimedia:/apps/openSUSE_11.4/x86... In yast there is the option to manage repositories. From there one can select to add a repository. I selected community repositories thinking that all the opensuse repositories would appear in that list, but apparently not and I was wondering why? -- Delight thyself also in the Lord and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. I find repository selection to the the most mindboggeling task on OpenSuse compared to other Distros. There are so many choices, and so many pitfalls, and the descriptions are so close as to be indistinguishable. It requires parsing the descriptions like a lawyer to determine which of the repositories is safe and which send me down a roller coaster of broken packages and non working stuff. Just when you think you are safe, the actual content of a repository changes and suddenly what you thought was safe becomes the bleeding edge repository as happened here: http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.suse.kde/11835 I appear to be stuck on KDE 4.6.0. But 4.6.1 has passed me by and 4.6.2 is out. But is it stable? -- _____________________________________ ---This space for rent--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Eddie Did you add it zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/multimedia:/apps/openSUSE_11.4/x86... multimedia ? Unless you added it only oss nonoss and update are enabled by default. Or if you mean in the community list I am not sure about that.
