Re: [S.u.S.E. Linux] Problem; Mach64 server
I had a similar problem with my monitor and the same card setup. What wroked for me was to reset the monitor (on) and having the resolutions set for 8@ 1280 x1024, 16@1024x767 24@same and 36@800x600. Note while I have the virtual desktop set for all modes it only works in the lower settings. There is still an slight flicker in the top left corner but some further tuning when I have some time will hopefully address this now minor irritation. Chris Jonathan Markevich wrote:

However it doesn't look healthy! I have an ATI 3D Xpression with the Rage II+ chip (4MB EDO RAM) and a Sceptre P511 monitor. When I go to 16 bpp I see a flickering line about three inches from the left of the screen for the entire height. 24bpp is even worse. I am using the Mach64 server, it seems to work great in 8bpp with the exception of xfmail and Netscape FLOPPING around

Everything seems kosher; I picked the wrong card definition, I chose 3D Xpression whereas the 3D Rage II+ (Internal) was just on the next screen. No difference, from what I see.
My monitor documentation says 30-66 and 50-120 and works fine on 8bpp. If this was happening in Wingdings I would say it's a buggy video driver. I don't know what it is now...
I played a bit with xvidtune, I figured if I shrunk the screen area it wouldn't be hitting the monitor so hard, but that's not the case, no difference.
Any other ideas?
