Re: [SuSE Linux] enough already! 5.3 is going, going...
Don't misunderstand....I have NO intention of giving up on SuSE's Linux! I just don't like broken distributions, no matter who >produces
them...including the junk from MickySoft! I had not seen >KDE 1.0 till now.......NICE...VERY NICE indeed! Once the KDE >spreadsheet and word processor are released, I'll be able to replace >most of the Windoze crap at Cornell with SuSE. The learning curve >for most of my users will be minimal, at worst! Does anyone know when this may be released? I use staroffice myself and would like to switch to mainly KDE apps. Just wish they didn't look so damn much like MicroSuck. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at <A HREF="http://www.hotmail.com</A">http://www.hotmail.com</A> - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
KOffice is out there now, but I haven't successfully used it yet. My installation skills are still of the newbie variety. I was trying to set it up without gcc installed. I'm so lame. :) Now I am going at it with TOOLS in hand. It's like learning after several compiles that you then have to PLACE the kernel somewhere. This roller coaster of learning is cool. Is anyone else like me....do it first, then read the book? *********** REPLY SEPARATOR *********** On 9/5/98, at 12:15 PM, RICK CHANDLER wrote:

KDE is enough like OS/2 that I don't mind the looks. 1.0 is configureable enough you can make it look pretty good! It's speed is EXCELLENT, and most apps are good. Most of our users in my dept. at Cornell don't need all the features of SO, which is what I use, so both of these apps will do fine for them. I checked out the KDE site today, and there's still no word as to when they'll release the apps in question, and are still marked as "unstable."
