Yep, it did. And they don't have a real way to contact them to tell them how stupid the site now looks. Flash based sites are SLOW and just plain waste bandwidth. What a friggin waste. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Well, it's just an opportunity to refine your skills with Adblock or Noscript or Stylish :) I chose the last: @namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml); @-moz-document domain("www.novell.com") { #banner { visibility: hidden !important } } Cheers, Dave -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I use FlashBlock. It contains a white-list to which I add the few sites whose Flash animations I do want to see and clicking on the placeholders FlashBlock inserts in Flash elements unblocks them on a one-time basis. Generally, I'm not very persuaded by arguments about "wasted bandwidth."

In today's context it is merely a deragotory comment but certainly would be a prominent factory to someone on dialup. :^) -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Dial-what? What-up? What-what? Which reminds me, I've got to keep leaning on my dad to get broadband Internet service, now that they got cable TV to deal with the digital switch-over.

As do I, but you still have to click some of them to use some sites. Once you get past the initial flash, you can usually bookmark what part of the site you actually need and those usually don't have flash.

Anything flash based is a waste of bandwidth IMO. 80% of flash is for ads, and they are generally so annoying I wouldn't click on them to buy anything anyway. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I think it just reflective of the age, style and intellect of those now in charge of SuSE. For instance KDE users have Konqueror as default and there is no Flash even if you want it, like youtube.com . -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Huh? http://www.donutmonster.com/stuff/2009/20090121_konq_youtube.jpg It should work out of the box. That's on 10.3, but I know it works on my son's 11.1 laptop. Replying to my own email - I tried out Konqeuror on KDE 3.5x under 11.1. Even though Flash is installed it doesn't actually show Youtube (or lego.com) content: http://www.donutmonster.com/stuff/2009/20090122_opensuse11_1_kde3.png This works just fine on KDE 3.5x under 10.3 - wonder why it doesn't under 11.1. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

This may or may not be related, but when I installed 11.0 Firefox, Opera and Konq all had problems with sites with Flash content. Deinstalling and reinstalling Flashplayer solved the problem. :-? Firefox did not have problems at all. I can't say for Opera. It seems OK, but I don't use it much. After some playing I can see every video in Konqueror, but I have to reload page with selected video. Every time I reload the page I get "Khtml freeze" message, but after aborting script, video runs fine. After some time watching videos I'm giving up on Konqueror for this purpose. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

That's it. Under 11.1 KDE4 works fine. It runs right now in another session. Why not? Missing correct path for KDE3 Konqueror? -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
