[S.u.S.E. Linux] sane and HP scanner
I am trying to get my 4P scanner running. I have compiled the kernel with general scsi support and installed sane. I have also linked it to /dev/scanner. However, when I configure YaST, it does not hink the device I chose is a scanner. Now, because of my other SCSI devices the scanner is at /dev/sg9. Is this a problem or is there something else I need to do? I was able to pull up xscanimage once, it didn't work, and now it won't even open. In the past, we shipped to few device files. Please check if /dev/sg9 exists: Mandelbrot:/root # l /dev/sg9 crw-r----- 1 root disk 21, 9 Mar 5 00:53 /dev/sg9 If it doesn't exist, simply create it: Mandelbrot:/root # mknod /dev/sg9 c 21 9

HI have verified that the device /dev/sg9 exists and is linked to /dev/scanner. Trying to test it. I used: scanimage -d hp:/dev/scanner -h All the option scroll up the screen and the last two lines say. [snapscan] add_device: "HP C1130A " is not an AGFA SnapScan [snapacan] sane_snapscan_init: failed to add device "/dev/scanner" Any idea why I get this.
