Hello all, I noticed that X.org mentions 3D support for several radeon cards (including my radeon 9000). Does anyone have any idea how good this 3D support is compared to ATI's and/or nvidia's? Any speed comparisons? Regards, Pieter Hulshoff

Pieter, I don't have any comparisons to present to you, but can only say how well my 9200 does with the X.org drivers. I can't say I've ever been disappointed using 3d with any of my Radeon cards. Regards, Pieter Hulshoff <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<- If you look at ATI website, there are rpm drivers for Radeon 8500, 9000 and above. Perhaps, these drivers are open-source and x.org has a copy of them (I only guess). Once, I tried these drivers on RedHat 9.0 with a Radeon 9200; Although installed successfully, none of opengl games worked (I mean tux-racer and chromium). I asked ATI about compatibility with these games but no reply was sent. I want to try with SuSE 9.1 as soon as I obtain one of supported chipsets again. Despite this, nVIDIA has excellent, easy to install, unified drivers for all their chipsets: from Riva TNT to Quadro FX. As much as you are relaxed with ATI cards in DirectX and Windows, You are with nVIDIA cards in OpenGL and Linux. For speed comparison, I have no idea but I believe nVIDIA is better and faster in OpenGL applications even in Windows. Bonjour; Has anyone TkDesk running without problem from SuSE 9.2 rpm? I got this message: "tkdesksh: error while loading shared libraries: libitcl3.3.so: cannot open object file: No such file or directory" Should I uninstall SuSE itcl-3.3-419 and replace it by a non alernative version? And in this case what other applications will be affected? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? As for FileRunner, which was in 9.0, I dont understand why it is not in 9.2. Not yet tried to install it from 9.0 DVD. O. L.
