I've been using the rpm ftp://ftp.gwdg.de site with synaptic to update etc but it was too slow. so I added this mirror using vim and 'copy and paste': rpm ftp://mirrors.mathematik.uni-bielefeld.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/ SuSE/9.0-i386 update security base kde gnome2 xfree86 usr-local-bin suser-rbos update-prpm mozilla funktronics packman packman-i686 mantel-kernel wine security-prpm suser-kpietz suser-tcousin suser-scorot suser-sbarnin suse-people suse-projects But I get this error: E: Line 4 too long in source list /etc/apt/sources.list. Even though this is the same as the rpm ftp://ftp.gwdg.de site: rpm ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/ SuSE/9.0-i386 update security base kde gnome2 xfree86 usr-local-bin suser-rbos update-prpm mozilla funktronics packman packman-i686 mantel-kernel wine security-prpm suser-kpietz suser-tcousin suser-scorot suser-sbarnin suse-people suse-projects Which works. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Jerome

Dunno if thats the best way, but it seems to work for me.. -- /Rikard ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rikard Johnels email : rikjoh@norweb.se Web : http://www.rikjoh.com Mob : +46 (0)735 05 51 01 ------------------------ Public PGP fingerprint ---------------------------- < 15 28 DF 78 67 98 B2 16 1F D3 FD C5 59 D4 B6 78 46 1C EE 56 >

please read http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm once more. it stated e.g. that suse-people mantel-kernel may provide software that is to far on the edge. You don't want those to be in your sources.list file all the time.
Which works. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Jerome

Actually I just removed suse-people and mantel-kernel and it worked. I guess I was just barely over the limit. Thanks, Jerome
