OK, armed with this new information, I went to "all" of the .bash.rc files and edited them, adding: export MOZILLA_HOME=/opt/netscape
( /root , /root/skel, /etc/skel, /home/jdkc. /home/sysadm)
I might add that Netscape was working fine before without these entries, but I added them anyway, just in case.
Then I downloaded Communicator 4.04 again, just in case, and reinstalled it.
Same results, I get over 100 entries on XMessage that say:
/opt/netscape/netscape: can't resolve symbol 'name'
Aalso, when I access a webpage that has sound, it shuts down Netscape and I have to reboot it.
Otherwise, everything works fine, that I've tried. I'd really like to get the 100+ "symbols resolved however if anyone has any more ideas.
Thanks in advance.
Did you read and follow these instructions in the README ? * Included with all distributions is a file called XKeysymDB. Without this file, many warnings about "unknown keysyms" will be generated when the program starts up, and most keyboard equivalents won't work. This is a general problem with running Motif programs on systems not configured for Motif, and so will be necessary on most Sun systems. This file is included with all packages because some systems have an older version of this file, so you may still get some warnings. The XKeysymDB file normally goes in /usr/lib/X11/XKeysymDB or /usr/openwin/lib/XKeysymDB, but you can override that with XKEYSYMDB environment variable. -Regards -Dee -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
