Wireless card not working with KNetwork Manager
I use Suse-10.1, KNetwork Manager is never able to initialize my Wireless Card properly, i always have to login as root, and do iwconfig manually etc.. KNetworkManager however beautifully manages my Ethernet Connection (ifplugd) etc.. I have Intel 2200 ProBG wireless card , i modprobed the module (ipw2200) after manually downloading the firmware into /lib/firmware , and set the IP address using iwconfig, and did a dhclient to get a working wireless LAN, KNetwork Manager gets stuck at 28% trying to run this command: /usr/sbin/wpa_supplicant -d -g /var/run/wpa_supplicant-global i see messages in dmesg like "Module not supported by Novell setting U taint Flag" Any Clues ?? --SNIP-- ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:01:05.0 disabled ipw2200: probe of 0000:01:05.0 failed with error -5 ipw2200: module not supported by Novell, setting U taint flag. ipw2200: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200/2915 Network Driver, 1.0.10 ipw2200: Copyright(c) 2003-2005 Intel Corporation ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:01:05.0[A] -> Link [LNKG] -> GSI 11 (level, low) -> IRQ 11 ipw2200: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth1: link becomes ready eth1: no IPv6 routers present ieee80211_crypt_wep: module not supported by Novell, setting U taint flag. ieee80211_crypt: registered algorithm 'WEP' --SNIP-- Thanks Digz

We provide the firmware in the non-OSS addon CD. Install ipw-firmware.rpm from the addon CD or internet installation source first.
KNetwork Manager gets stuck at 28% trying to run this command: /usr/sbin/wpa_supplicant -d -g /var/run/wpa_supplicant-global
/var/log/NetworkManager is the relevant log. After you have installed the correct firmware, please post a bug at bugzilla.novell.com with the relevant part of the log and details of your network authentication - like what kind of authentication and algorithms you are using. The kernel taint message is not related. Will
