[opensuse] Ktorrent - Now what?
Hello SuSE people, Running 10.0 on an X86.64 system Been watching the posts about bit-torrents with interest. Had never done that before and decided I would give it a whirl. Installed Ktorrent and about 12 hours later I have the following file sitting in it's download directory. openSUSE-10.2-Beta2_RC1-DVD-x86_64-delta-iso Claims to be 544.7mb. Not even sure if that is what I need/want. Is it ????? Soooo....and please excuse my ignorance....what is this that I have here? A full install of 10.2? Just make a DVD and go! Hmmm....doesn't seem logical. Pretty small. K3B doesn't like it much. Complains that "seems not to be a usable image" Not surprising seeing other posts and the capabilities of K3B. Oh well, the whole purpose is to keep my mind active and alert. Certainly does that. Aside from that, it would be nice to understand what it is that I am doing and end up with a state of the art SUSE. Thanks guys, Bob S. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Actually, it is a great "invention". But, it is not what you want probably. It is a delta iso, meaning it needs to be applied to another "iso", in that case, it is the changes to go from the Beta2 iso (or DVD) to create an iso for RC1. To me, this is one of the best things to come along in a long time. :-) What it means is that if you have already downloaded the DVD from one version (I assume this is just for the alpha-beta-rc cycle), which is large, then to get the DVD for the next you just need to download the delta iso to create the next DVD, so instead of ~3.5GB, you just need 550MB. It sure encouraged me to get into 10.2 to find those bugs to make 10.2 a great distro. There is more info on the opensuse website for delta isos. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

No, that is not what you want. It was explained by another list member. The torrent file for what you want is this: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/openSUSE-10.2-RC1/openSUSE-10.2-RC... However, are you sure you want the Release Candidate? This would be good for playing with until the final Release that appears on December 7th. At that date you could download the delta iso and apply it to obtain the final Release image. Then I'd suggest a reinstallation on the partition where you have installed the RC1 (I'd like to keep things clean and remove all doubt). Or you could just wait until Dec. 7th and download the Released version 10.2. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hmmmm......Thanks to all who replied. You all just made the old guy a little bit smarter. OK, if I wait until the seventh, will there be a torrent for that? I assume that will be pretty fast because everyone and their brother will be downloading that at once. Right ???????
