Hi Has anyone had a successful setup of a PCI orinoco wireless card ? I can't make it work. I have downloaded the PCMCIA package from sourceforge but loading some of the modules is impossible. Any input is appreciated. Thanks Hamid -- Using M2, Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/m2/

Wireless tools and PCMCIA package was all I needed to get it to work on SuSE 8.2. I did not download the package from SourceForge, but used the one on the DVD (then checked for updates). By the way, when configuring card through Yast, at least in SuSE 8.2 you may have to select configure other. Matt

Matt, Do you also have an eth0 workign along with your wireless card ? I do select the 'configure other' and YAST shows everything went smoothly but the NIC is not added and I get different error messeges in the log. I had it work just going into Yast and setting it up. I did have to disable the eth0 though as apparently, they will not coexist. Art On Sat, 2004-02-21 at 14:26, Hamid wrote:

Is there any special reason that they wouldn't coexist ?
How can I disable eth0 safely ? Is "ifconfig etho down" enough / Thanks Hamid -- Using M2, Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/m2/
I just went into yast and deleted its configuration in the networking section. Art On Sat, 2004-02-21 at 17:04, Hamid wrote:

Can you tell me what drivers you chose for your PCI card in YaST ? Thanks Hamid
