hi, I have a AdvanSys scsi adapter with a HP 9G scsi hd, the problem I face is when I boot a ide cdrom to install Suse 6.4, but the YaST can't find my scsi hd! Is there anyway to make the YaST to recognize my scsi hd? thanks! ckh :) _____________________________________________________________________ Sure, you can have free email. The only thing the installation program needs with a scsi hd is your host bus adapter (for example 2840uw). When you have the correct drivers for your HBA all scsi hd's on the system will be found. The scsi id of the HD must be 0 for Suse to boot from the HD -----Original Message----- From: Keng Heng Chan [mailto:kengheng@2bsure.com] Sent: maandag 15 mei 2000 4:15 To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: [SLE] howto install linux in scsi? hi, I have a AdvanSys scsi adapter with a HP 9G scsi hd, the problem I face is when I boot a ide cdrom to install Suse 6.4, but the YaST can't find my scsi hd! The id of the HD doesn't have to be 0. It can be any ID, as long as it is the lowest ID with a bootable disk. -- Brad Shelton On Line Exchange http://online-isp.com -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

At the boot prompt try something like: boot advansys=<addr1>,<addr2>,.......... eg: boot advansys=0x110 I think the boot is required at the start. This is from SuSE 6.3 manual.
