But SuSE has told me, that some computers doesn't do hotplug. What is the solution then ?.
I think they mean that if you have no usb controller, you can't use usb peripherals, ie: no hardware hotplug. The software hotplug does work quite well and I've not seen a system with usb ports that wasn't detected properly by SuSE's scripts. Are you having any trouble with a specific device? If I had more information I could probably help you better. - -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE8PzrE+FOexA3koIgRAkEPAJ0YVBdf4EHJoL+nVwkbUN5z7IyhPACfSf9m zNiAeM+x5Fvx2BB8gvo60G8= =ezcx -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Hi James. I'm not sure cause what you say, what SuSE meant about what they told me. BUT they told me it was ok to have the insmod printer line placed in the /etc/init.d/boot.local to boot the USB printer during the boot sequence.

Yes I have troubles with my DJ895Cxi DeskJet printer using my VMware Workstation as guest under Linux. The printer works excellent in Linux. I use samba for my LJ1100A LaserJet printer, that works ok. It works vis Samba. But I cannot get the DJ895Cxi printer to work. Not as a printer connected directly to the USB, NOR via Samba, still connected to one of the USB ports.
