I just re-installed 8.0 and finally got my sound working properly. However, on this install, none of my Windows partitions were added to fstab automagically as they have been in past installs of 8.0. This is fine as I'm not really happy with the way SuSE names the drives. I need to add entries to fstab and would like your input for the options that I should use for Windows partitions. Is it a bad idea to automount? Yippee38 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com

My fstab entries: /dev/hdb1 /dosc vfat noauto,user 0 0 /dev/hdb5 /dosd vfat noauto,user 0 0

If you don't use those partitions very often, I think it's better only to mount them when needed. For when they are mounted permanently, automatic processes such as updatedb and certain cron jobs are also having a look there, causing a lot more disc activity. SH

Good point. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks, Yippee38 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com
