[SuSE Linux] Dual Monitors under Linux
I've spent quite a bit of time hunting for anything that says Linux will support dual monitors under XFree86. Surely Win98 can't have a feature that Linux does not? George - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

"dual monitors" AKA "mulit-heading" is supported in Metro-X's X-server: www.metrolink.com - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

Thanks to all. I knew Microsoft had nothing over Linux. George - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

You can do this but for the time being it will cost you. Multiple monitor display (called multi-head) is supported by some of the commercial x-servers like metro-x. I think that win98 only supports a max of two monitors, but I could be wrong. Metro-x supports up to 4 monitors, but only with Martrox cards. I don't know about the other commercial servers. -- Ben Messinger Linux user #79,342 (Better late than never!) - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

If you are willing to pay for it - yes. There are commercial X-Servers which support multi-headed operation. XFree86 4.0 will also include support for more than one video card. I've already seen it running with three cards (Elsa Glora Vivo in combination with LCD displays - yummy!). Very neat... You can even have different window managers for each display.
