Every time I try to configure in my network card (3com 3C905C) using YAST2 under 7.1 I get an error saving /etc/modules.conf, and when I look in /etc afterwards the file has been renamed "modules.conf.-". Questions: a) can I provide more information to help get this fixed in Yast2 and b) can I fix my system? Keith
Yep, did the same thing to me when using YaST to update the kernel. Sys still ran, but the earlier kernels lost sound and network, and the new kernel wouldn't let me install nVidia modules/drivers. Had to re-install the sys and now I'm always worried that an update or modification will bring this glitch out again. I hope you get some help with this. I'm very interestedto find out what's going on with this. Cheers. Curtis Rey On Wednesday 09 May 2001 17:38, Keith Edmunds wrote:

If you have /tmp mounted on a different partition than /etc, that is probably your problem. SuSE has already made available an updated RPM that fixes this bug. -tara
