[SLE] Problem with DOS Partition
That doesn't help me either -- I've tried all the filesystem types. I'm thinking there might be something else to look out for. Is there a way to check if the device is 'mountable' or not? i can't get the partition to show up in LILO either, for some reason. :( Liane --- My fstab: /dev/hdxx /windows/C vfat noauto, user 0 0 Tom -- TRBishop tb64710@ltec.net Registered Linux User #12043 -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/ -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

My fstab:
/dev/hdxx /windows/C vfat noauto,user 0 0 Tom
Is this 6.4? It was done at install w/6.4. However in the past I have simply done: mkdir /windows/C (or however it's listed in fstab) and then: mount /windows/C /mnt or something along these lines. I know others add some other stuff like -t msdos, but it has always worked for me w/out anything else. Go into YAST --> SYSADMIN--> Kernel and Boot config and add it to Lilo. Of course run /sbin/lilo after to see if it took w/out errors. I know this is sketchy, but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I will jump in and correct any misinformation. BTW, if you're using KDE, Kwikdisk shows all and will mount and unmount disks and partitions. Tom

I make a directory called dos in / so: # mkdir dos then I mount the drive (in my case /dev/hda1) with this command: # mount -t vfat /dev/hda1 /dos it always seems to work well. Offhand I don't recall lilo showing a list of partitions. Maybe it gets a list from fstab. Does the partition show up in fdisk?
