Dear Sirs; i am experiencing a little problem while trying to install a SuSE PE 7.3 on a Toshiba Satellite Pro 1900 NoteBook As you may find, the notebooks mounts an ATI MOBILITY PRO 6M video interface card, and the matter is that it only works in framebuffer mode. Had anyone solved this problem? Thanx in advance Gabriele
Hi, I had a smilar problem with my Toshiba 2670-DVD too. I got around with this by only fbdev and explicitly specifying the screen mode in lilo.conf. I think this is the only choice. Regards, Oyku Mailing Lists wrote:

There is a page for laptops and linux, you should check it out http://www.linux-laptop.net/ It helped me with my IBM T23

Try a web search for your laptop and linux... Or call up Toshiba....or call SuSE. For my video I had to go and get specific drivers and install it in a roundabout ass way... Does the new SuSE support laptops with KDE? And sound with the IBM T23? My sound does not work and every where I have looked, people say I should download and recompile my kernel with new beta alsa sound card drivers, my system finds the card and I can see that it is configured and working, but no sound, I can get it to beep at me. Some sound is better than no sound.

Xfree 4.2.0.64 will solve your problem since it supports the chipset in your notebook as Radeon LY. Use the suse rpm's that you will find on suse's ftp, DO NOT install the new Xf86tools *.rpm package since it screws up the installation Regards, Josef
