Has the problem with the KDE 3.1.2 updates breaking yast2 been fixed without using the revert to former qt ben fixed ? If so where is the best place to get the updates ? I can use apt or download the rpms. More broadly do I really need KDE 3.1.2 at the moment ? thanks Mike

I did these updates and haven't yet identified any YaST problems. Perhaps there's something in a module I haven't used, but YaST is working fine here so far.

It doesn't look or feel very different from 3.1.1 as far as I'm concerned, though I'm sure it's packed with improvements below the waterline. I'd say no, you don't, but it's working perfectly for me. HTH Fergus
thanks
Mike

Another one is when using autoyast2. In case you use "file -> open" autoyast2 quits immediately. Downgrading qt3 solves this issue. -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless

Mike, Here is your site: ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/SuSE/8.2-i386/RPMS.suse-people/ I am curious though from Richard, how is this latest build working? I tried an earlier build which had a few problems, like the mouse pointer switching, etc. Plus I remember some others speaking of little buglets as well. This is of course unfinish and a beta product, so the use of it is the user's worry, but some input on how well it is working with the rest of KDE 3.1.2 would be intersting to hear from those using it. This is my apt/sources.list. rpm ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt SuSE/8.2-i386 suse-people base update-prpm update kde xfree86 mozilla usr-local-bin suser-tcousin extra packman packman-i686 mantel-kernel security-prpm security With it I merely upgraded to the qt3-3.2.0b using synaptic. One word of caution, the cursor will be slightly screwed. It will angle up and to the right vice left. And If you are using the Blue cursor that may be broken. Neither of which will cause you to much trouble. RA

Be advised that like a lot of us, you probably will have a problem with Yast2 and installing any new software off the CDs.....it goes into a loop. I hope that SuSE will get that fixed soon.
