You can go to IBM's site and download the tar.gz file of their JAVA..then you just move it to where you would like it and decompress it. I put mine in /usr/lib and just go into KControl and into Konqueror's configurations .. you will see a section on java/javascript..just click that you want to specify it instead of having it autodetected and put the path to your new java directory. It's pretty simple. You would be able to figure it out from there.
OK, I followed your instructions, and I'm afraid I get the same result., which means nothing...: the browser stops loading before the ja button appears. I dowloaded the ibm jre 118 - Or do I need the jdk? I installed in /usr/lib/jre118 Went to Konqueror > settings>configure>browser>java-javascript and chose "user-specified java" > /usr/lib/jre118. Any other suggestion I could try? Thanks FX -- ______________________ Courtesy of SuSE Linux Kernel 2.2.17 (who Kares?)

You can find the file I was talking about at this URL. You have to register, but it's no biggie. Just get this file and follow the previous instructions.
I'm sorry to insist, but it still does not work. Konqueror stops loading https://www.cger.be/CGER_WebBanking/secure/INDEXAPPLET.HTM when it reaches the last button on the right, which I guess correspond to the loading of the java applet. If I enble the java console, I get a message confirming that I am using IBM Java VM 1.3.0, but there is a long error message starting with : KJas: error java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: javaNetMalformedURLException:unknown protocol https. Of course, the secure http is mandatory, since this is after all a banking website. Other suggestions? Thanks fxf <p>> --
