Thanks - I kinda suspected I had a problem w/ QT. I have too many versions installed - version 1.45 for KDE 1.2, version 2.1.1 for the Qtez development package, and 2.2.x (?) for KDE 2.0. Even though I have installed them in separate directories, and only reset environment variables when necessary (like running Qtez), I had a feeling I was just digging myself a big hole to fall into... I guess it's time to clean house :).

Mike,
When I installed KDE 2.0 I decided beforehand to strip off KDE1.x. I also removed qt-1.45 and cleared on the env vars.
Then I installed Qt-2.2.2 with full graphic support and installed KDE 2.0 using SuSE's ftp files and install sh. KDE 2.0 has been rock stable for me. I don't recall a single crash or lockup while using it. I, too, have downloaded KDE 2.0.1 but didn't have time to install them. But, since KDE has announced yet another update I'll probably bypass KDE 2.0.1 and try KDE 2.1.

Ever since I installed KDE 2.0 (NOT 2.01) I have been experiencing random system lockups. By "lockup" I mean that I can do NOTHING. I get no response from mouse or keyboard - I have to reboot the machine. I have uninstalled & reinstalled KDE 2.0 (including the associated QT packages) & it's still happening. Has anyone seen this behavior before? I have downloaded all the KDE 2.01 packages but haven't had time to upgrade. I'm not sure this will make any difference anyway. The lockups occur whether I'm in KDE 2.0 or KDE 1.2. My next step was to remove KDE 2.0 and just see if 1.2 runs OK for awhile. Any other ideas, or suggestions as to what to look at would be appreciated!
TIA,
Mike
