How do I change the grub splash color from green to blue? I have put blue in the config file, I have also changed to title of the "windows" selection to "MS-DOS" and that works, so it seems that the config file is being read.
Hi,
I think that you mean that you want to change the color of the firdt screen displayed by grub. If so the color is embedded in the "message" file in /boot After a lot of trials I happened to discover that Yast commands are able to edit and modify this file. AND I got a blue screen.
I built a new "message" file which should replace the original one. In the same way I use bootsplash and all my screens are blue, but it is easier than for the first screen.
Hoping I've replied to your question.
Regards.
Michel.
PS : the "message" file is a 131 ko file so I can't enclose it on SuSE list but I sent it to you. I was unable to find how to use YaST to edit the /boot/message file. I copied yours (thank you) to me boot directory, and got it to work. Now I know what you mean by the first screen. My first screen is now blue, with some French words. But the next screen, and the menu characters are still green. It seems that the color command in menu.lst is not being executed.

Hello, Fine for the "first"screen, for the following ones it's easier. They are controlled by bootsplash, the bootsplash jpg's are located at : /etc/bootsplash/themes/SuSE/images You can edit them and change the color to blue. THEN don't forget to run "mkinitrd" or your screens will remain green. The xdm login screen will remain green. I happened to disable it and enter directly in the blue Kde login. I'll have to remember how if you want that. Good luck. Michel. PS : I enclose for you the blue "bootsplash images". They are too heavy for the list but I can send them to anybody who'll ask for.
