In your case, it is because you have not installed texlive-scheme-medium. I guess. I wonder why you don't have too many TeX-related files? I suspect you are right, so that means either the two packages I noted or the texlibe-scheme-medium (preferably the smaller two files) need to be added as a dependency. Installing texlive-pdfjam should produce a working pdfjam on its own if the dependencies are correct. And... it shouldn't have to pull in a lot of other superfluous packages from a scheme-medium if the user isn't going to use them. texlive can have huge file updates, so always best to keep the parts installed to only what the user needs. -- David C.
