I am trying to get Konqueror to run an application that requires the Java Virtual Machine. The application is at : http://webbook.nist.gov/chemistry/ Do: Structure -> Use applet to draw a structure In Netscape this brings up a Java program that allows you to draw chemical structures. Once the drawing is complete, you can click on an accept button and the relevant information will be retrieved. As I say this works in Netscape but I would like to get it to work in Knoqueror. Any suggestion would be appreciated. -- Cheers, Jonathan

Konqueror doesn't seem to like the funny and non-standard way that this webpage uses the applet tag. You'll need to make a new file and put this in it: <applet code="MolEdit.class" codebase="http://webbook.nist.gov/classes/moledit/" archive="moledit.jar" width="600" height="600"> <param name="SAVE" value="../cgi/cbook.cgi?StrSave=Applet"> <param name="SEARCH" value="CHOICE"> <param name="TEMPLATES" value="http://webbook.nist.gov/classes/moledit/templates.dat"> This applet requires a Java capable browser to be viewed. </applet> and load that up on Konqueror. Also Konqueror with KDE 2.0 didn't have as good Java support as the KDE 2.1 version. If it works in netscape you probably won't have to download Sun's Java 1.3 of linux but it's probably a good idea anyway. Jonathan Riddell
Thanks so much Mr. Riddell: Where exactly do I put this new file you mentioned? Thanks in advance. I am running KDE2.1 (suse's 8 Mar posting). On Sunday 11 March 2001 17:55, you wrote:

Thanks so much Mr. Riddell:
It's Jonathan Riddell. Titles are nasty things.

Just whereever, the HTML they use is faulty so you make the new file in say your home directory load it up with file:///home/jr/foo.html (or the equivalent) and that file will fetch the applet from their server. Jonathan Riddell
