Reiser error message - what should I do?
Hello, I've been receiving this error message, but only when starting Evolution, most likely meaning where its data is stored has an issue. See the messages below: Feb 19 17:46:46 navi kernel: is_tree_node: node level 65535 does not match to the expected one 1 Feb 19 17:46:46 navi kernel: vs-5150: search_by_key: invalid format found in block 94061. Fsck? Feb 19 17:46:46 navi kernel: vs-13070: reiserfs_read_inode2: i/o failure occurred trying to find stat data of [220879 221623 0x0 SD] Anybody have any idea what i should do? How do I repair this? How concerned should I be about losing anything anytime soon? It's the only reiser/fs related error message I ever see in xconsole. Any thoughts are appreciated. - Greg

I would perform a system backup if there is anything of importance in the disk and also a filesystem check. Use the installation CD and boot in rescue mode. Run reiserfsck on the partition having problems. For documentation see: http://www.namesys.com/reiserfsck.html I'd suggest you do a '--check' first and then follow with a '--fix-fixable'. Remember, backup if you don't want to lose anything important. If you are in real trouble, subscribe to the reiserfs mailing list. They are extremely helpful. Depending on the situation, Namesys may ask you for $25 to help you recover your partition. -- Rafael
