It is some kind of permission problem. Wild shots: 1) have a look at the apparmour log (better: stop it temporarily) and 2) try as root. You haven't said what opensuse version you have, nor hplip-hpijs and hplip.

The strange thing here is the displayed job number is not correct when looking at the now printing line, it shows hp3300-0 when it should be hp3300-51.
I think it might be showing two: 0 and 51. Try "lpq -a" to see if there are more jobs pending and remove them all. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. If I cancel the print job no print jobs show. I try to print something else and the job number goes up but it still shows "now printing hp3300-0" with only one job in the queue. What is strange is after deleting the printer cups can't find the usb printer, does not show any usb printers but I ca scan and a command to make a copy. after unplugging and plugging in the printer the following error shows in dmesg: hal-cups-autoco[27795]: segfault at 8000000 ip b7d67f0c sp bfcf4180 error 4 in libc-2.9.so[b7cfa000+155000] Hmmm... -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I moved the printer to a different port on the powered hub and then back to the original port and now it is printing again. Go figure! I was going to mention that you could use "hp-setup" to setup the printer instead. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Simply uninstall the cups-autoconfig package when you don't need its automatism (I assume you don't need it when it does not work for you at all ;-)
I moved the printer to a different port on the powered hub and then back to the original port and now it is printing again.

Ken, install with the HP utility ONLY.....remove with Yast first, and DON'T use Yast to define the printer. You can use Yast to define the scanner part of the printer.....IF need be.
