Hi, Just received 7.3 and went to do a fresh install after fdisk'ing my previous 7.2 installation. Tried twice so far. First time chose auto install and when finished could not go into X - got several errors that seemed to be connected to missing libs and through me back to the prompt. Second time chose manual install, everything seemed to go normally, rebooted as per installation instructions and had a kernel panic - could not mount root partition. Has anyone else had any problems? I have had no problems at all with all the previous versions up to 7.2 using the same PC hardware. This machine has been running 7.2 since it came out. You might want to try to specify append="noapic" when booting the image. And if you get to the lilo.conf add noapic to the append line there too. -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort." -- A. Tried your suggestion - no improvement. The exact error is as follows......
Kernel panic: VFS: unable to mount root fs on 03:43
Any indication as to the cause??

Keith,
Since 7.3 is un-available up here in Alaska, no chance of helping you.
Typically I try to use the default packages selected by a install
on a new release.

Thanks Dee,
I am the same, I have not tried to install anything unusual - very
disappointing really as I have never had any problems with previous releases
using the same hardware.
