[opensuse] Firefox: Sounds on mouse movement

Hi Group, Appreciate any suggestions about what might be causing the following behavior: In Firefox (SUSE/3.0-1.3 Firefox/3.0), while moving the mouse around a page I hear a _very_ faint background sound. The only Firefox Add-ons I have installed are Delicious and Tab mix plus. I'm at a loss as to how to turn this sound off. the sound is just audible and becoming quite annoying. To give a more accurate description of the sound I've tried turning up the volume using Kmix, to no avail. My system is openUSSE 11.0, KDE 3.5.9, with patches applied. Firefox and other apps were installed using the openSUSE 11.0 setup/install process. Appreciate any hints or suggestions. Do you only hear it on FF pages - try some other apps as well. Manne -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hence, it seams the sound is not caused or emitted by the speakers. Do you use a laptop? Often, they have got a very fast reacting fan control. Thus, I can hear my laptop working sometimes. Especially, if there is a periodic load in contrast to a constant one: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_with_high_pitch_noises moving windows or just the mouse in xorg strange noise like a rapid series of very short high pitch noises adding to a constant kind of whistling (only as long as the movement goes) Above, there are some hints to get rid of the noises. And, google "firefox linux high pitch noise mouse moving" (without the qoutes). Thanks Jan, This forum thread suggested the fix: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=678170 In my case I unplugged my monitor's audio cable. I now use different speakers. All very unexpected... but great that the noise is gone :) Thanks Mark
