read/write files in an encrypted partition
I am attempting to create, edit and read files in an encrypted partition in Suse 8.2. During boot, I am prompted to enter a passphrase, presumably a key. Using chmod 775 I believe I have made the mount point (/media/secure) writable by me (a member of "users"), as well as root. A google search mainly discusses VPNs, network access, etc. I get an error that I might not have permission when I try to write a file. -- John Sowden American Sentry Systems. Hi, In my case the owner is (root, root) for the mount-point of the encrypted partition. By 'default' I mean. Changing the rights to 775 (rwxrwxr-x) would not provide w(rite) permissions for the 'users' group on my 9.1 system; in this particular case 777 would be the (not so elegant) solution. I'm not sure, that the above method really works, but if you have (root, root) also in your system, I don't wonder, that 775 doesn't work. Peli
