[oS-en] Thunderbird nuisance
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, Often when I change folder in Thunderbird the highlight goes to the top of the folder, instead of the bottom (new posts are at the bottom). Is there a way to make it always go to the bottom, or at least the previous position? Also, when I go to a folder, it expands one thread. Can this be disabled, and start always with all threads collapsed? - -- Cheers Carlos E. R. A couple of settings I'd look at in the config editor are: mailnews.default_sort_order 1 mailnews.default_sort_type 18 I haven't seen the behavior, and so far mine still sorts newest at bottom and only new at the bottom are expanded (I think). If nothing is new, I just see the threads collapsed. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

That's what I have.

I have the same behaviour since ever in all computers. New at the bottom, all threads collapsed except one, at the bottom. Not necessarily the last post. I want ALL collapsed, no cleverness. And when I go from threaded to unthreaded, focus goes to the top instead of remaining where it was. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from openSUSE 15.3 (Legolas))

I hardly ever use threading. What annoys me is slamming next against the bottom or top of the message pane instead of putting freshly selected in the middle. -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science. I do utilize threading and mutt does it very well. I do not like thunderbird. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet oftc

+1 I recently switched to it from Seamonkey. I find Seamonkey was much better to use. The only reason I switched is I can no longer sync the address book with GMail. I used to use gcontact sync, but it no longer works. Thunderbird can sync directly. At least it's not as bad as Outlook!

I use threaded, but I use unthreaded to detect who posted last and about what. Then I select threaded again. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from openSUSE 15.3 (Legolas))

Same here. A G A I N it's the old question of jurisdiction. Devs have the knowhow and the mandate to decide the best possible tools while anything that is 'administrative' like choices goes solely to the users (in my book at least). -- Heaven was never a democracy

The problem I see in Tbird is openGPG is all fscked up since the move from Ver. 68. You message has "Invalid Digital Signature" Here is a shot of the dialog Tbird is showing me about your sig. The other day I could have responded to you encrypted, but something has messed up: https://paste.opensuse.org/92744874 -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

The problem with that message is new since PGP was remade "recently". The problem is that now Thunderbird does not support "inline PGP signature", and this may be intentional, some dev considers that method obsolete and doesn't want to support it. Conversely, Alpine does not support "attached PGP signature" that Thunderbird does. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from openSUSE 15.3 (Legolas))
