[S.u.S.E. Linux] No mouse and no keyboard after Xwindows start
Hi, I have installed SuSe and Xwindows starts, but the first touch of the keyboard locks the computer - no control, alt, delete. Also the mouse is not working. It's a Microsoft serial mouse. If anyone knows the answer to these problems, then your help would be much appreciated. Charles, What "keyboard" did you choose in XF86Config? Try 101 key US; at least I know that one works :-) Is there a /dev/mouse in XF86Config? Is it actually a symlink to the /dev/ttyS<n> serial port that the mouse is on? I re-ran XF86Config and entered the 101 US keyboard, I also change to a PS/2 mouse and now all is OK. The serial mouse driver in XF86Setup should work. Reboot, enter your bios and see if your bios initializes your mouse at boot. I had a com port that only initialized if I booted from loadlin, it was because it was toggled off in my bios. Check that. Charles wrote:

I checked, but found no reference to initialising the mouse. But I changed from a serial mouse to a PS/2 version and it worked after re-running XF86Config. I also have the keyboard working, so all is well. Thank you for your prompt and helpful reply.
