Question: Since updating to 7.3, I have been getting some strange things with my cd drives (hdc=cdrecorder & hdd=cdrom). Seems like I did have to set up my links for scd0 & scd1 to get them working again initially and have not seen problems with that since. This is a readout of cdrecord -scanbus, which is baffling as well. cdrecord -scanbus Cdrecord 1.11a05 (i686-suse-linux) Copyright (C) 1995-2001 Jörg Schilling Linux sg driver version: 3.1.22 Using libscg version 'schily-0.5' scsibus0: 0,0,0 0) 'ATAPI ' 'CD-R/RW 24X10 ' 'P.JJ' Removable CD-ROM cdrecord: Warning: controller returns wrong size for CD capabilities page. 0,1,0 1) ' CD-ROM ' 'DRIVE/F5A ' 'M2.A' Removable CD-ROM 0,2,0 2) * 0,3,0 3) * 0,4,0 4) * 0,5,0 5) * 0,6,0 6) * 0,7,0 7) * ============== You'll notice I am now getting the little warning after the CDR drive now, which I had not gotten with 7.2 install. What is that trying to tell me? Also, I seem to have lost my permissions with AudioCD Slave as well as user. I can access as root, no problem doing "audiocd:/?device=scd0 or scd1", both read. I am a member of the disk group and the links are normal. What am I missing? Ok all, I think I have answered at least one of my questions! The readout of "cdrecord -scanbus"! I think the reference is to the cdrom device and not to the cdr device. The cdrom is rated at 52X max, whereas it is tests out at 2x/44x speed, therefore returns the wrong size for CD capabilities page? Does that sound something close to correct, like I know what I am talking about? ;o) Now if someone can help me get my permissions fixed for the AudioCD Slave, I will be back to almost perfect!
