If you ever notice us missing updates, please report it early (via bugreport). If its security relevant, you can ask at security@suse.de or assign a bug to Security component. OK. I'm never sure how long is appropriate to wait, though. I don't want to pester, but this one is almost two weeks old, now. According to [1]: "This feature release does not contain any new fixes for security vulnerabilities to its previous release, Java SE 6 Update 17." I hope you'll still supply an update. Hmm, then its usually not updated immediately. We could wait for u19 with security fixes. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Well, other features make it worthwhile for some of us (an expansive term for "me"). I really dislike installing my own JDKs because of the tangle that is /etc/alternatives.

Is that it? You won't update the Java packages? Is the explicit policy to _only_ do updates for security issues? If so, it's disappointing.

No, the rest is decided by the openSUSE maintenance team, NEEDINFO maintenance@opensuse.org As it is also just me currently, well. Anyway, we will be updating Sun Java 1.6.0 to u18 now. I think I missed the bugs you said were fixed for it in there, but well. I only pointed out the security bits, since you mentioned that explicity.
Ciao, Marcus
As I mentioned, I can handle JDK installations myself, but owing especially to the /etc/alternatives mechanism, it gets messy not to have a single sanctioned Java installation with executables in the stock locations. Would I appear impatient if I asked why the u18 update has not appeared in the update repository yet?
