[opensuse] Lowering the MTU
Hello, (trying to rephrase a failed thread) I have Leap 42.3 I am having issues with a new wireless dongle and I suspect I could fix them by lowering the MTU (ping is stable, some transfers hang, causing this suspicion). But somehow, no matter what I do, MTU remains at 1500. Using yast, I set it to 1400 in the /etc/sysconfig editor (then rebooted), and it is also at 1400 in the network settings editor, but it is still 1500 in the ifconfig output. A setting on the router side does ont seem to be available. So how do I force the MTU (for wlan1) to 1400? Somewhere in NetworkManager I expect. I doubt if MTU 1500 is causing a problem though. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (1.9°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - virtual servers, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Try using Wireshark to verify. I seem to recall ifconfig not showing the correct value, but I could be wrong.

Does your DHCP server support options? If it doesn't specifically have a MTU setting, you can use option 26 to set the MTU. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
