[opensuse] openSUSE 11.3 Support for Intel Core i3 / i7
Hi Listmates, I tried installing openSUSE (oS) 11.2 and 11.3 M3 on Dell Inspiron 1440 and Acer Aspire 4740, and the results seem similar: 1. oS 11.2: Live KDE: It failed to boot. Installation: Succeeded to run YaST-Installer, but after reboot it failed to finish the installation processes. 2. 11.3 M3: Live CD KDE4: It booted well. but hang when it was in progress on YaST Installer (when formatting new partitions) Installation: I can see it booted well but no GUI ran, only blank screen, I could not reach 'Ctrl+Alt+Fn). Will Intel i3 / i7 processors be supported by oS 11.3 in time the 11.3 reach the final release? Thanks in advance. They work very well right now. Your issue has nothing to do with the processor in question. My advice: You have the exactly two crappiest, junkiest, cheapest, most incompatible brands of laptop you could possibly purchase for use with LINUX. Get an HP/Toshiba/Lenovo with Intel or Nvidia graphics and *always* an Intel wireless adapter [does Dell make a single model without the Broadcomm crap inside?]. This message composed on an HP DV7-3085DX (i7 w/64bit openSUSE 11.2). Performance is @*^&*@*(& awesome and openSUSE w/GNOME is rockin'. -- openSUSE w/GNOME <http://www.opensuse.org/en/> Linux for human beings who need to get work done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I've been running oS 11.0 on Intel i7 in 24/7 production for over a year. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (-4.5°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Seems like it is about choosing the right machine. Thanks everyone. Best regards, -- Andi Sugandi (Bandung) openSUSE Ambassador http://en.opensuse.org/User:Andisugandi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
