Hello Does anyone know how to connect a Umax S-6E scanner to SuSE 6.2 and get it to work ? I've tried and can't get it to go. I've looked at the SuSE support database and it says something really vague about /dev and making a link. Doesn't give a clue about what it means though. It's all explained in the manual, look in the index under scanner. If you don't have a manual, I'll give a quick explanation. First, the scanner must be scsi, with a REAL scsi card, not the crappy windows-only card that ships with the scanner. Then look at your boot messages and see what /dev is assigned to the scanner, probably /dev/sg1. Then enter ln -s /dev/sg1 /dev/scanner chmod 777 /dev/sg1 then start xscanimage Good luck -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
