I seem to recall reading somewhere that SuSE-Linux 7.1 can access the complete set of installed Windows fonts. In my word processing apps. however, Kwrite, StarWrite, WP8, only the rather more limited Linux fonts appear to be available. How do I gain access to these windows fonts, or is it not possible.

(exept with the online layout, were it displays all fonts known to the x-server) To print TTF's, you'll have to teach them to ghostscript first. There's an app called KFontinst in KDE2 (K > System > Font installer) which pretends to be able to add fonts to SO and Abiword. However, when trying to open a (new) document in SO, SO and KDE crash. Possibly for the same reason? Then there's 7.1's Applixware demo that has a 'font installer'. However, the 'Add font' button is not active. Anyone had more success? I heard that WPO2000 has got a font installer as well. Type1 or ttf? And is it possible to make .pdf's using ttfs here? I'm especially interested in this subject because at the printing-office where I work we often receive M$ stuff that has to be converted to the Mac in order to be printed. There is Word98 for the Mac, but this causes even more problems - it's just garbage! I successfully imported the Word documents in SO for Linux, made a pdf out of it, and this way it could be printed using the Mac. However, finding a solution for the limited number of fonts is a major priority now. Greetings, SH

You need shlibs5.rpm to make it work -Kastus

I've seen different reasons with SO crashing after installing TTF's: - sadly, I forgot to enable world read permissions to the printer driver file - probably same with the standard fonts file - some TTF's are a bit "strange" using them, crashes SO. (I think TimesNewRoman is one of them.
