[opensuse]v11.0 Beta2 Not installing graphical YaST? zypper issue also
I've installed Beta2 on 3 systems so far, all low resource systems, so I don't install zypper. Each time, the yast-qt package doesn't get installed and I just figured that out today. Not sure why that package is skipped. Also, the printer module for YaST doesn't get installed either. As for zypper, I keep setting it to taboo in the package system, but every time I install something else, it's added back in. My system works just fine without it, and it's really annoying to have it put back in all the time. Is there really that much of a benefit to having it installed? I generally just run YOU one a week, and I get tired of getting told once a day that some update or other is available. My Fedora 8 box is just as bad. Unless it's a critical update, I don't see the point in doing it more often. All 3 are running stable without zypper installed. Other than an issue with my wireless cards, everything else seems to be working. I've even managed to install it on a PowerMac 6500 603ev @ 250Mhz with 128MB RAM(max) and a 2MB ATI video chip(max). It's slow, but it works. Keeping resources down is a big deal on this kind of low end machine. While it's not a production box, it's nice to be able to make use of it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
