And if this sequence is necessary, perhaps there's a way of getting YOU to update the current kernel-syms package without also retrieving and installing the full complement of kernel packages, most of which are already present and which are a sizeable download, even for DSL or cable users and also a rather lengthy installation.

Install the kernel-syms package. I've downloaded it. Do I have to do something more than instaled it? Changing something in /boot? After installation nothing changes. The message is still
