I wanted to see what cpu a box had in it this a.m. and am distressed to discover the nice hardware profile we used to have (in YaST) is gone. What are we supposed to do now to find out what hardware is in a box? Thanks for direction....

Thanks. Doesn't seem to have as much info as the old YaST hardware list but it's at least a step in the right direction. I'll check it out more completely soon. Again, thanks for pointing me to KInfoCenter. On Sat, Jan 28, 2023 at 9:32 AM Freek de Kruijf <freek@opensuse.org> wrote:

lspcu? hwinfo? lspci? that sort of thing. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (-0.2°C) Member, openSUSE Heroes (2016 - present) We're hiring - https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Heroes

lscpu (not lspcu :) seems to be the only one that can be run by a normal user. And it answers the question.

lscpu .... grrmbl :-) lspci should be fine too, despite the silly warning. Another one that can be helpful is 'dmidecode', but it's quite verbose. I use it mostly for looking at type and number of memory stick installed. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (2.0°C) Member, openSUSE Heroes (2016 - present) We're hiring - https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Heroes

$ lspci Absolute path to 'lspci' is '/sbin/lspci', so running it may require superuser privileges (eg. root). I don't bother researching whether or not I can or should attempt to run each such a program as a mere mortal. It's far easier to run it as root.

What version of openSUSE are you running? I have "Hardware Information" in 15.4 KDE.
You need to install yast2-tune to have hardware information back Regards, Francesco On Sat, Jan 28, 2023 at 6:29 PM Chuck Davis <cjgunzel@gmail.com> wrote:

Thanks for the pointer. Wonder why it was ever taken away so that it requires extra effort to install.... ?? On Sun, Jan 29, 2023 at 6:41 AM Francesco Teodori < francesco.teodori@gmail.com> wrote:
