[opensuse] How to know why a server rebooted?
All, I'm running openSUSE 12.3 on a virtual server in the cloud. Yesterday it rebooted for some reason. I've looked in /var/log/messages and /var/log/warn and I done see a reason for the reboot. I didn't initiate it and the support team says they didn't do it. Is there somewhere else I should look? fyi: I've had this virtual server for a couple months and this is the first unexpected reboot. Does that ever give anything except the date/time? -- _____________________________________ ---This space for rent--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

If auditing is enabled it is probably the most reliable source as reboot could be initiated by direct system call which does not leave any traces in usual log files. But apparently it (audit subsystem) is not even installed by default.
