SuSE FAQ Source files are in CVS now
Hi, I have finally had the chance to upload the SuSE FAQ source files to the CVS located at cvs.susefaq.sourceforge.net. This is the latest version that is on my pc which the current websites and mirrors display. Anonymous CVS access is cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.susefaq.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/susefaq \ login Press Enter when prompted for password cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.susefaq.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/susefaq co \ faq_sgml You can have look at the cvs from the web via http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/susefaq/faq_sgml/ If you are listed as a developer which means you have access to CVS tree apply the following export CVS_RSH=ssh cvs -z3 \ -d:ext:developername@cvs.susefaq.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/susefaq co \ faq_sgml To have developer access you need to have sourceforge account and provide me with your account name so I can add you as a developer also. There are couple of Readme files which I have tried to explain the software needed in case you want to produce the output formats locally, a warning about my Makefile abilities :-) and the current mirrors of SuSE unofficial FAQ. If you are developer and will change files please make sure you use cvs log messages in explaining what is done (even it is a typo fix) so we do not do the same thing :-) Comments are welcomed Have nice weekend -- Togan Muftuoglu

Please excuse me for my ignorance but how does this work? If I use the commands above am I supposed to be able to have local copy of the faq on my system? Glenn

No, to have the local copy you just need to download the mirror_set.tar.gz from http://sourceforge.net/projects/susefaq and then issue tar zxvf mirror_set_tar.gz to expand it to your local httpd directory The CVS has the SGML files enabling you to either translate the FAQ to another language or produce the html, pdf, text, rtf formats on your pc. Hope that is clear now. Thanks -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx
