Re: [SuSE Linux] FreeBSD better than Linux
I wonder what Unix system is better.
I think that totally depends on what your trying to do. Linux on a commercial server, I don't think I would. Linux as a web server, ISP, or a home system, yes I would. I would rather trust a commercial product rather than linux when my job depends on it. I do believe that Linux is much better for home use. It's faster on a pc and seems to run a larger variety of apps.
FreeBSD is supposed to be a "real" Unix while Linux is just >considered an Unix clone. I mean where is the difference or dose it make a difference?
I don't think so. I have SuSE, SCO and Solaris running on my machines and I can't see very much of a difference in any of them. They differ when it comes to commands, but all-in-all they are pretty much the same. Linux is a great way to learn Unix. Just my opinion. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at <A HREF="http://www.hotmail.com</A">http://www.hotmail.com</A> - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

Conversely, SCO, Solaris, UX, AIX,SVR4 and BSD are all adequate introductions to Linux. DEC Unix would be my choice for a teaching tool, however. Regards, Stu - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
