[opensuse] KMail Pictures Autodisplay
Is there a way to auto-display pictures in Kmail? Right now it arbitrarily will display them inline or not depending on the senders email client or the mime-type of the image (or something along those lines but generally for some senders it shows inline and for others not). I can click to show inline but it is annoying to do when you need to review many messages. I looked in the options and did not see anything. I do not use the "preview pane." -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

In the Folder menu is a item "Load External References" which is remembered on a folder-by-folder basis. I keep it on in a few select folders, but not many, since a lot of images are retrieved via a URL that identifies which recipient address, and this can be used to ascertain whether a spam email address is live or not, and naturally you don't want to supply such feedback. Also, Folder -> "Prefer HTML to Plain Text" must be on before "Load External References" even matters. This is emphasized by the fact that unless "Prefer HTML..." is on, "Load External..." is disabled. Lastly, the interlock between these two is buggy (at least in KMail 1.9.5) and to make the interlock take effect, you have to switch to a different mailbox (and back) after selecting one of those menu items.
