[opensuse] TW: xhci_hcd USB3 errors on dm-crypt ext4 external drives
I'm seeing the following errors in my logs: Dec 27 19:45:38 kosmos1 kernel: xhci_hcd 0000:05:00.0: ERROR Transfer event TRB DMA ptr not part of current TD ep_index 2 comp_code 1 Dec 27 19:45:38 kosmos1 kernel: xhci_hcd 0000:05:00.0: Looking for event-dma 00000000dd086110 trb-start 00000000dd086120 trb-end 00000000dd086120 seg-start 00000000dd086000 seg-end 00000000dd086ff0 Dec 27 19:45:38 kosmos1 kernel: sd 9:0:0:0: [sdh] tag#0 FAILED Result: hostbyte=DID_ERROR driverbyte=DRIVER_OK Dec 27 19:45:38 kosmos1 kernel: sd 9:0:0:0: [sdh] tag#0 CDB: Read(10) 28 00 03 c0 1d 80 00 01 00 00 Dec 27 19:45:38 kosmos1 kernel: print_req_error: I/O error, dev sdh, sector 62922112 I've previously raised a bug when I encountered the same errors earlier in the year: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1099750 I'm using two external seagate USB3 drives for backups using rsync. The drives are formatted for dm-crypt ext4. I have a dual boot Leap 15 and tumbleweed system. The rsync backup works fine under Leap 15 and only errors on tumbleweed. I've tried kernels up to TW 20181204 kernel 4.19.7-1-default. Can anyone cast any light on the above?
