[SuSE Linux] xrpm/python/tk
Greetings- SuSE 5.2 Has anyone had trouble running xrpm? I'm getting an error that python is not configured for tk. I do have both installed. Here's the message: (none):/usr/bin # xrpm Traceback (innermost last): File "/usr/lib/xrpm/xrpm.py", line 35, in ? import findrpm File "/usr/lib/xrpm/findrpm.py", line 30, in ? from Tkinter import * File "/usr/lib/python1.5/lib-tk/Tkinter.py", line 5, in ? import _tkinter # If this fails your Python is not configured for Tk ImportError: File not found I've checked the SuSE db, but the picking's were slim; and there does not seem to be a mail archive search; if I am wrong, please enlighten me. I hate asking questions because I know they just about have all been asked and I'm pretty good at sniffing the answers out. (FWIW- I am a former RedHat user and the searchable mail archives were awesome. Sadly, RH 5.0 was not! :-\ ) TIA- Kevin _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? Python apps don't like tkstep, so IF you are using tkstep that's your problem. Kevin Collins wrote:

Install tix from your S.u.S.E cd. I know X-rpm isn't listed as being dependent on tix, but I found out upon removing it X-rpm wouldn't work and even though I had tcl and tk on board. Upon reinstalling it X-rpm worked again. If the S.u.S.E. guys are listening I'd be happy to be straightened out on this point. Otherwise, I'd just call it a rare oddity.

Thanx for the clear-up. I think I know what the mistake was on my end...at least that guy got his question answered. :-) -M One is most dishonest towards one's God; he is not _permitted_ to sin. mail: mjohnson@pop3.aebc.com - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
Turns out I didn't have the newest S.u.S.E. rpm of tk cause I was using 5.1. I didn't check and see that tk8.0 was available at the ftp site, and only got 5.2 recently. Sorry for the confusion (even if it's just my own :-)) Don't know why the new rpm worked though when I reinstalled tix <?>. On Mon, 31 Aug 1998, Michael Johnson wrote:
